DESCRIPTION:A decade of research has established relationships between soci
al media use and mental health in adolescents\; however evidence-based int
erventions for navigating this relationship are lacking. Existing interven
tions rely on abstinence-based models which tend to ostracize teens\, negl
ect benefits of social media use\, and fail to provide long-term skill acq
uisition. Research shows that harm reduction and strengths-based treatment
s are often more effective. This talk will overview a CBT-based interventi
on to provide psychoeducation and skills training to teens to minimize ris
ks and maximize benefits in social media use and mental health. We will te
ach and demonstrate the core components of the intervention and their appl
ication for social media use\, including assessment tools\, psychoeducatio
 n\, self-monitoring\, mindfulness\, values clarification\, cognitive restr
ucturing\, behavioral activation\, mental health misinformation\, and unre
alistic body image standards.\n\n \n\n1 CE credit available to WCM Departm

cture and complete a survey which will be emailed following the completion
