DESCRIPTION:“’As soon as possible!’ – Development of biomarkers to
 identify dementia.”\n\npresented by:\n\nCharlotte E. Teunissen\, PhD\n\n
Professor in Neurochemistry\, Chair of the Neurochemistry lab\, Amsterdam
UMC\, Netherlands.\n\nDr. Charlotte Teunissen aims to improve care of pati
ents with neurological diseases by developing body fluid biomarkers for di
agnosis\, stratification\, prognosis and monitoring treatment responses. S
tudies of her research group span the entire spectrum of biomarker develop
ment\, starting with biomarker identification\, followed by assay developm
ent and validation\, and extensive clinical validation to ultimately imple
ment novel biomarkers in clinical practice. She is responsible for the Alz
heimer Center Amsterdam body fluid and leads several international biomark
er networks\, such as the CSF Society and the Alzheimer Association-Global
Biomarker Standardization consortium\, and the recently founded Coral pro
teomics consortium. She is the coordinator of the Marie Curie MIRIADE proj
ect\, aiming to train 15 novel researchers into accelerate dementia biomar
ker development.\n\n \n\nHosted by Dr. Mony J. de Leon
