WCCHR is excited to host its first joint training session with Columbia Human Rights Initiative on Saturday, September 13th from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The training will be led by expert clinician evaluators and will allow participants to learn more about the role of medical students and clinicians in the asylum evaluation process. The training session is REQUIRED for all students from Cornell and Columbia who wish to volunteer at either school's clinic and have yet to attend a previous training session. No prior experience is necessary; the session is open to all medical and MD-PhD students from any institution. At WCCHR, clinicians work closely with 1-3 medical students to evaluate an asylum seeker for physical and/or psychological signs of torture, and to prepare a medical affidavit to support the client's asylum application. To learn more, visit our website at http://wcchr.com or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Breakfast and lunch will be served. If you plan on attending, please RSVP to Claire Ryan at email@example.com.
