WCCHR Forensic Asylum Evaluator Training

This training will consist of interactive lectures on applicable human rights law (led by an immigration attorney) and the various aspects of performing the psychiatric, medical, and gynecological asylum evaluations, writing a medical-legal affidavit, and testifying in court (led by a seasoned forensic medical evaluator).

The goal of this training is to understand asylum law and the role of a forensic medical/psychiatric evaluation in the asylum application. We also aim that the participants will learn to administer a forensic medical/psychiatric evaluation along with identifying signs and sequelae of trauma and torture. Finally, we will instruct how that they will be able construct medical-legal affidavits describing the findings in a forensic medical/psychiatric evaluation for an asylum application.
