Racial & Ethnic Pain-Related Disparities: Provider & Contextual Factors & Potential Solutions

A 2017 TRIPLL Webinar Presentation

Presenter: Adam Hirsh, PhD, Indiana University

Pain-related disparities for racial/ethnic minority groups exist at multiple stages of the pain care continuum. Dr. Hirsh’s presentation will focus on the provider and contextual factors that contribute to these disparities. He will highlight theoretical and empirical findings indicating how these factors influence pain care and discuss key questions for future research. Dr. Hirsh will also discuss two novel interventions that use virtual human technology to reduce disparities and improve care for low-income minority patients with chronic pain.
