How to Communicate with Your Doctor

How best to organize your thinking and to plan before your doctor appointment?  Make your time together with the physician most beneficial to you. Miscommunication is a common problem and can lead to poor outcomes. Our speaker, Joan Altman, MPH, BSN, RN and Community Program Coordinator at the Hospital for Special Surgery, will supply basic questions to pose to your doctor after a diagnosis. She will provide a checklist to help patients be sure all areas of concern are covered in the limited time allotted. Nurse Altman is a firm believer that the health of NYC residents can be improved by increasing their health literacy.
